Florida ranks 4th for car theft.

Florida recorded 27,142 vehicle thefts in 2025, according to NICB: 4th among states by volume, even after a 29% drop. That's 10,929 fewer than the year before, and the decline has continued into 2026.
Florida is also an exporter. Stolen vehicles have been found in shipping containers at PortMiami bound for the Middle East, and Miami-Dade runs a dedicated Seaport Operations Bureau to work theft and export cases. Once a car is in a container, the owner rarely sees it again.
Florida is one of the few states that requires insurers to include a discount for anti-theft devices on comprehensive coverage.
